Initially trained and attracted to the precision of the drawing board, I expanded to the freedom of mark making and the brush. My introduction to stained glass work was by chance back in 1997, but I soon realised that the accuracy and precision needed, feeds that perfectionism within me, whilst the process of creating and incorporating images on the glass, satisfies my free flowing artistic side.
Having trained at the Bristol School of Art in 2004, I now work from my studio in the grounds of my home. My work combines traditional leaded stained glass with paints, stains and enamels as well as incorporating sand blasting and etching techniques. It typically depicts animals, birds, folklore and Celtic weave patterns. Inspired by the wonderful nature around me, it reflects my connection to Land, Sea and Sky.
As a qualified teacher, I run glass workshops, take commissions and occasional repair work. I am a member of The Somerset Guild of Craftsmen and my work can be seen in their gallery in Wells, Somerset. I am also one of only one hundred glass artists worldwide featured in the book ‘Creative Glass’ (Schiffer).
